Making Mashed Potatoes

How to use hand mixer for mashed potatoes

So, now that you know which is the best hand mixer for mashed potato, how do you use it to make the best mash? Making mashed potato is a very easy task, and it’s made even easier with the help of your trusted hand mixer.

Boil your potatoes

First things first, you can’t have mashed potato without boiling your potatoes. I always boil water in my kettle ‘cause it’s quick and easy.

Fill your pot around ⅔ to half full, depending on how many potatoes you are using. While you wait for your water to come to a boil, peel your potatoes and cut them into quarters. Cutting the potatoes smaller will allow them to cook much faster.

Once the water has come to a boil, add your potatoes in the pot and cover. Let them boil for around 15-25 minutes, depending on how big the potatoes are. To check if they are done, pierce a potato with a fork. If it goes all the way through without any resistance they are done. If they still feel a bit hard, let them boil for a little longer.

Use the hand mixer

Once your potatoes are ready, drain them using a colander and put them in the bowl you will use to mix them. You will need to coarsely mash your potatoes before you use your hand mixer. You can do this by using a fork or a masher. Once you have broken down your potatoes, it’s time to use your mixer!

Start your mixer at a low speed and mix the potatoes until they are completely broken down. Gradually increase the speed. The higher the speed, the creamier the mash will become.

Adding ingredients

To take your mashed potato to the next level, you can add milk and whip it with the mash until it becomes creamy. At the end, add some butter and let it melt amongst the hot mash. Give it one last mix with your hand mixer and it’s ready to be served.

What’s your favorite hand mixer?

So, there you have it! Just in case you didn’t know you could mash potato with your mixer, you do now!

All you need to do now is decide on a mixer that will mash your potatoes to a silky smooth and creamy consistency.
