Best Hand Mixer For Meringue

The Ultimate Guide

Meringues. They are chewy, fluffy, light. They can be piped, blowtorched, made into silky icing. There are so many things you can do with meringues and they make for beautiful decorations on cakes and are perfect with strawberries and cream.

Meringues are not as hard to make as they seem. But without a good and powerful hand mixer, you will never be able to get to those stiff peaks all bakers talk about. I mean, you can spend hours hand whisking egg whites by all means, but who has time for that nowadays, right.

So, let’s see which is the best hand mixer for meringue!

Black+Decker MX600R

Because expensive doesn’t always mean better, I bring to you one of my favorite budget-friendly hand mixers; the Black & Decker hand mixer. It may even be better than some of the high-end ones out there (but shh, you didn’t hear it from me!).

It’s a 250W, 5 speed with turbo hand mixer that is fast and efficient with everything you mix. Its nylon beaters take complete control and mix every inch of the bowl, leaving no ingredients untouched.

You get 2 helix beaters for your general mixing, 2 dough hooks for your bread dough and a whisk for light and aerated mixing. (I find the helix beaters work really well with whisking up meringues rather than the singular whisk.) All of the accessories are dishwasher friendly as well as having a detachable compartment to store all of the tools without taking up too much space in your cupboard.

Black and Decker may be more widely known for their durable building tools but this hand mixer should not go unnoticed.

Baking tip: Rest the heel of the mixer on the bowl for effortless mixing on your part. Don’t be surprised if the nylon starts to wear off the more you use it.

Breville Handy Mix Scraper

The intrinsic design of Breville Handy Mix Scraper qualified this electric whisk for a spot on our list. Although it’s heavier than some of the other hand mixers, it makes up with its unique accessories.

It boasts 240 watts of power and it comes with 2 whisks, 2 dough whisks, and 2 resilient beaters. The beaters are dressed with rubber scrapers, ensuring that there is minimal clinging and clanging around the bowl when mixing. It is also a boss at whipping up a meringue in just a few seconds!

The pause button on this electric whisk is also a great bonus as you can add more ingredients mid mix without having to restart the speed of your mixer. This is a great feature when making meringues as you can pause, pop in your sugar, and keep on whisking!

It might not be as powerful as other hand mixers, but it sure gets the job done. And did I mention that it is super quiet too? So, you can enjoy whisking in peace.

Baking tip: Pop all the accessories in the detachable compartment to save up space in your kitchen. The rubber can also start to wear off the longer you use this Breville electric whisk.

Cuisinart HM-90S Power Advantage

Every brand has a noteworthy creation. For Cuisinart, it’s the remarkable Cuisinart Power Advantage Plus 9-Speed Handheld Mixer. The phenomenal power of this electric whisk is 220 watts which can whip almost anything. The mechanical features are also an impressive addition that allows you to control 1 of the 9 different speed levels.

3 of the speeds are very slow, so you don’t need to worry about your ingredients flying all over the kitchen. But when it comes to whipping those fluffy and chewy meringues make sure you put the setting to 9 to get the maximum speed for whisking the egg whites.

The Cuisinart Power Advantage Plus 9-Speed Handheld Mixer also features 2 beaters, 2 whisks, 2 dough hooks, a spatula, and a recipe book. Bonus!

Baking tip: If you prefer having a neat baking bench, you can tuck the cords into its clip-on case.

Braun MultiMix 5 Hand Mixer 5100

Braun has a solid reputation for all of their electrical appliances and this electric whisk is no different. Whether you are a novice baker or a pro, the Braun Multimix is perfect for everyone. At 350 watts, the power of the Braun hand mixer is almost unrivaled and is the perfect mixer for getting those desirable stiff peaks for meringues.?

The Braun electric whisk features 2 beaters, 2 dough hooks, and 2 whisks, all of which are dishwasher friendly, making cleaning a walk in the park. The attachments are very sturdy and with the incredible power that this mixer possesses, you will not have any difficulty with mixing tougher ingredients.

It is a very solid, durable mixer that is lightweight as does not take up too much space in your kitchen.

Baking tip: If you are mixing dough with the dough hooks, be aware that the dough might get stuck in the mixer.

KitchenAid 5 Speed Hand Mixer

KitchenAid has built a great reputation for itself over the last few decades as a reliable manufacturer of stand and hand mixers, and the 5 speed Hand Mixer is no exception.

There is a much more powerful one with 7 speeds and an even MORE powerful one with 9 speeds. But, we found that the 5 speed works just as well when whisking egg whites and there is really no need to pay extra to get the 7 or 9 speed one.

The KitchenAid turbo beater is designed without a center post, meaning there is less matter build-up, a common issue facing a lot of hand mixers. This clever design makes this hand mixer a great choice mixing together even the stiffest of meringue peaks.

Another cool feature of this mixer is that you can choose to lock the cord to the left or the right side. This allows you to approach your mixing bowl from any angle. It’s also super helpful if you are left-handed (like me) and are sick of the power cord getting in your way all the time.

Verdict

So, there you have it! The 5 best hand mixer for meringue! Honestly, which one you get is really down to you and your preference.

There is really no need to splash the cash with this one, so the Black & Decker is a great all rounder hand mixer that can do much more than just whip up silky meringues.

Happy whisking!
