KitchenAid stand mixers are amazing, although there is no denying the fact that these are not exactly the cheapest appliances you will ever buy.
Yes, they are pricey purchases, although I’m sure most KitchenAid owners will agree that these machines are a long-term investment that will be whipping up your tasty treats for decades – perhaps even a lifetime – if you play your cards right.
If you have done a bit of research and have come to the conclusion that the KitchenAid mixer you are dreaming about might be a bit out of your budget, I’m here to tell you that you shouldn’t give up hope just yet.
Okay so, a KitchenAid will never be the cheapest stand mixer on the market but there are certain places – and times – that you can buy these dreamy mixers for a lot less than their usual retail price.
To bag a bargain on a KitchenAid mixer, you simply have to know where, and when, to buy a KitchenAid mixer.
Here’s everything you need to know on how to get a cheap KitchenAid stand mixer.
When is the best time to buy KitchenAid mixers?
I have been lurking around various stores and websites for a while now in an attempt to answer this very question. After keeping a close eye on KitchenAid prices for the best part of a year, I think I have identified the best time to buy a KitchenAid stand mixer.
Here are my suggestions.
Black Friday & Cyber Monday
Perhaps the most obvious time to grab a bargain, regardless of what you are hunting for, is Black Friday.
Black Friday has its origins as a ritual that would see brick-and-mortar stores sell their old inventory at massively discounted prices. Nowadays Black Friday is synonymous with online sales of the best appliances and devices you can buy.
Closely related to this is Cyber Monday, which became an official E-commerce sale when online retail companies noticed a recurring revenue spike post-Thanksgiving, as people ordered gifts at their workplace. It has expanded to everything from books to watering cans and of course our sturdy stand mixers.
Put simply, the best time of year to buy a KitchenAid mixer is typical during the holidays. If you are in the USA during Thanksgiving, then this is one of the best times to buy a KitchenAid Mixer.
While you cannot expect the deep discounts offered on many other products, you can save up to $100 dollars on a stand mixer. From what I have seen, typical savings around Black Friday are about 15-25% on KitchenAid products.
It seems that most discounts are offered on the KitchenAid Artisan Series (which makes perfect given the amazing range of colors available!) That said, if you are a savvy bargain hunter, you might find Professional or Pro-line stand mixers on sale at a discount of $100-200 – or even at half-price – although these are a little more tricky to find.
It’s also a great time to stock up on some extra KitchenAid attachments as you can get your hands on a beautiful ceramic bowl or food attachments like the meat grinder or the vegetable slicer with a 25-30% discount.
If you really want to be a savvy shopper, I suggest that you keep tabs on your favorite retail stores for a couple of weeks and bookmark online sites that track such deals before the actual sale begins. If you wait until the last minute, you’ll be sorely disappointed as other bakers will probably have grabbed all the deals by then!
Pre & Post Christmas
Although the popularity of Black Friday and Thanksgiving sales has caught on globally, sales around the Christmas period still remain hugely popular, regardless of which country you live in. The Christmas holidays will be one of the best times to buy a stand mixer.
KitchenAid knows that there are millions of budding bakers and chefs looking to upgrade their mixers around this time, so they usually offer some festive discounts around this time. From what I have seen in the last few years, there are similar discounts between Black Friday and the Boxing Day sale period. The discounts can even go up to 50% on some items, although this is usually on older stock they are trying to offload.
How to never miss the big sales at these retailers?
Sign up for their rewards program if you’re a regular shopper or subscribe to their newsletters to get the scoop on various sale offers throughout the year.
Although the best time to buy a KitchenAid mixer is typical during the holidays, you can find these items on sale throughout the year at big box stores like Target.
Amazon Prime Day
Besides the KitchenAid website, Amazon is one of the best places online to pick up a KitchenAid mixer.
While Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend may be the best time to buy a KitchenAid stand mixer on Amazon, don’t forget the Prime Day deals.
Prime Day falls at the end of June or the beginning of July and is Amazon’s summer version of Black Friday. Like Black Friday, Prime Day is both popular and eagerly awaited in all those countries where Amazon has a regional site. If you’re a Prime member, Lighting Deals offer some of the lowest rates on products that you’ll ever find on the site all year.
But you have to be on alert as there will be thousands of KitchenAid lovers like you who are waiting for the sales to begin, even before the summer starts.
Where is the best place to buy a KitchenAid mixer?
So you now know the times of the year you are most likely to get a KitchenAid but that’s only half the battle. There’s more to getting a cheap KitchenAid stand mixer than good timing. Finding the retailers that offer the best price on these dreamy stand mixers is an essential piece of the puzzle.
The best way to guarantee you get the best deal on a KitchenAid is to do some price comparisons from the retailers below.
KitchenAid
If you’re looking for a KitchenAid stand mixer, arguably the best, and most obvious place to buy one is on the KitchenAid website.
As soon as you land on their website, you will most likely see an offer for 10% off small appliances if you join their email list. Of course, they stock all of the latest stand mixer models and colors. You can also find any authentic accessories or attachments you might need for your mixer on the KitchenAid website.
MY TOP TIP: To find out the best deals, KitchenAid has a section in the website dedicated to sales and special offers. I strongly suggest you take a look, you just find a steal of a deal!
Also, if you have any questions about the mixer or how to use it, you can contact KitchenAid’s customer service department through the website. They have a chat box where you can ask the automated assistant anything (they are also very prompt at responding to Facebook messages too).
Best Buy
Best Buy is a retailer that specializes in electronics. They have a huge selection of KitchenAid stand mixers and accessories and they offer some of the best prices. Best Buy thinks that it has the cheapest prices it even offers a price match guarantee. So, if you see the same stand mixer elsewhere for cheaper, Best Buy will match the price.
Best Buy also has a pretty good returns policy. If you’re not happy with your purchase, you can return it within 15 days for a full refund in-store or by post. Become an Elite Member, your return policy becomes 30 days!
Plus, if you have a Best Buy credit card, you can get a 5% cashback on anything you purchase, or 6% if you are an Elite Member.
Amazon
I have already mentioned this online-retail giant but it’s worth mentioning again as they carry a wide variety of KitchenAid stand mixers. Amazon even has many older mixer models that can’t be found on the KitchenAid website that are offered at surprisingly competitive prices. They have a selection of refurbished models too.
Amazon offers free shipping on many of their KitchenAid mixers, and if you have Amazon Prime, you can get same-day or next-day delivery. If you’re not satisfied with your purchase for any reason, Amazon also has a great return policy. You can return the mixer within 30 days for a full refund, no questions asked. The return policy is even more generous during the holidays.
The great thing about purchasing anything on Amazon is the customer reviews. You can read through the reviews of other customers who have purchased the mixer to get an idea of what to expect!
Walmart
Walmart is another retailer that carries KitchenAid stand mixers. Although they have a limited selection of mixers, they offer competitive prices, often at a discount. If you’re looking to buy a KitchenAid mixer in-store, Walmart is a great place to start.
Unlike Amazon, eBay and KitchenAid.com where you sometimes buy things blindly, you can walk into a Walmart store and take a look at the stand mixers in person. This will give you a better idea of how the mixers look, feel and operate in person.
It is also worth mentioning that if you purchase a stand mixer from Walmart, or anything for that matter, you will get 5% cashback with Capital One. Talk about great rewards!
Bed, Bath and Beyond
Bed, Bath and Beyond is a retailer that specializes in home goods. They have a wide selection of KitchenAid stand mixers and offer great prices on them.
You can also find many other KitchenAid appliances like hand mixers, blenders and toasters. Plus, if you’re looking for something specific like an accessory or attachment for your mixer, Bed, bath and beyond is a great place to find it.
They have stores all across the United States, so you’re likely to have one near you.
It’s also worth remembering that they have a great ‘My Funds‘ rewards program. This program is designed to reward you every time you purchase something from Bed, Bath and Beyond. You can redeem your rewards towards any product in-store and online.
Home Depot
Home Depot is a retailer that specializes in home improvement products. They have a limited selection of KitchenAid stand mixers, but they offer great prices on the mixers they do carry. Plus, if you’re looking for something specific like an accessory or attachment for your mixer, Home Depot is a great place to find it.
Tips for getting a cheap KitchenAid stand mixer
Ship a mixer over from US
I have heard a few people suggest this, so I wanted to quickly address this. Buying your KitchenAid stand mixer online from a US retailer or Amazon, and getting it shipped over to your home country is certainly one way to get a lower price mixer. While this may get you a good deal, there are other things to consider.
For starters, you may end up with high import duties depending on where you live and the shipping cost won’t exactly be cheap for a weighty machine like this.
The major issue with this however is the voltage. US machines are configured to work on a different voltage compared to other countries. This requires the use of transformers to run your new KitchenAid stand mixer.
KitchenAid doesn’t offer a warranty on mixers used outside the country of purchase. This obviously applies to models that are not designed for use in your country.
Nevertheless, people do shop abroad or on American sites and have used these and other alliances without major hiccups. This strategy is worth a shot if the deal is still too good to resist, even after accounting for all those additional expenses.
Buy refurbished KitchenAid mixers
Is your heart set on high-end models like the Professional series or Pro-line, but your budget doesn’t allow this indulgence?
Refurbished stand mixers are the way to go if you don’t mind some minor scuffs or marks. You’ll be potentially saving hundreds of dollars and even get a minimally used and decent piece at half or even a quarter the price. Of course, buying at an eBay auction comes with its own set of risks. You can get scammed and end up with a less-than-stellar piece.
Amazon renewed and refurbished departments offer quality mixers that aren’t as cheap as the ones you’ll find on eBay. But these are still a pretty good deal and come with the Amazon Renewed Guarantee.
Did you know that KitchenAid has an online refurbished outlet? You can find a used stand mixer or special attachment that has been checked, cleaned, and restored by the company to work (and look) just as good as a new machine would!
Ready to bag a bargain?
To sum up, KitchenAid stand mixers are state-of-the-art appliances but as expensive as they come.
Picking up your favorite stand mixer model at a discount and in the perfect color is very much possible with a holiday sale. If you can’t snag one during this Black Friday or Boxing Day, there is always the reseller’s annual (and sometimes monthly) discount scheme.
I how my guide on the best time to buy KitchenAid stand mixers will help you bag a bargain.
Happy hunting!
