These fridges are definitely not for everyone and their high prices reflect that. If you have your heart set on a Smeg fridge, be prepared to pay a little bit more than you would for a regular fridge. But is all this extra money worth it?
Are Smeg Fridges Worth the Money?
The answer to this question depends on what you’re looking for in a fridge and how much disposable income you have.
If you’re simply looking for a functional fridge that will keep your food cold, then there are much cheaper options available. However, if you’re looking for a stylish fridge that will make a statement in your kitchen, then a Smeg fridge may be worth the extra cost.
It also depends on who you ask. Some people swear by their Smeg fridge and would never consider anything else, while others think they’re overpriced and not worth the money.
Ultimately, you are paying for novelty and status, not performance. In fact, Smeg fridges were rated by Choice.com as being the ‘worst fridge we have ever seen in decades of testing’.
Others have complained about their flimsy plastic parts, terrible temperature stability and high energy use. So really, these fridges are not long-lasting and will skyrocket your bills.
Of course, it cannot be ignored that some of their fridges are a work of art. The D&G fridge is a beautiful appliance, and if you have the money to spare, then why not?
For most people though, a Smeg fridge is simply too expensive and not worth the money. You’re better off investing in a cheaper fridge that will do the job just as well.
