I have said it once and I will say it again, KitchenAid stand mixers are a lifesaver. They elevate all the hassle and stress from prepping even the most daunting baking tasks.
I’m sure few will argue that these stand mixers are some of the most multi-functional, and drop-dead gorgeous, appliances that money can buy.
That said, as much as I love my KitchenAid mixer, perhaps one of the biggest problems is that it weighs a ton. The weight of a KitchenAid stand mixer varies pretty drastically, ranging from 18lbs (8.1kg) for the Artisan artisan mini to 37lbs (16.8kg) for the Professional 6500.
This makes hauling them out of the back of your baking cupboard a bit impractical, especially their bigger mixer models. With weighty appliances like these, we need to call on some clever storage solutions.
Don’t forget about your standard baking attachments and special food accessories either. All these need to be neatly stored away, you certainly don’t want to be searching for them your batter awaits in the mixing bowl.
Allow me to share with you some of my favorite ways how to store a KitchenAid mixer, as well as the accessories and special attachments.
How to store a KitchenAid Mixer
Whether you want to make a style statement or declutter your kitchen countertop, I guarantee there’s a perfect storage option for you on this list.
The counter top
The countertop is probably the best and most obvious place to store your stand mixer. After all, what’s the point of owning a stand mixer that has an iconic design if you can’t show it off every now and then?
Not to mention the beautiful color you’ve carefully selected to match your kitchen color palette.
Many KitchenAid owners create a permanent spot on their countertop where their prized KitchenAid can bask in all its glory when it isn’t working away on your dough and batters.
With a mixer cover
If for some strange reason you don’t want to show off your KitchenAid, yet you want to keep it handy, a mixer cover might be the perfect solution for you.
A cover is ideal if you don’t plan on using your mixer regularly. These mixer covering cases aren’t just for show, they are actually pretty handy accessories. This will protect your mixer from dust and grease from all the frying and cooking you do.
Many of these covers also come with plenty of additional space to keep your cookbooks, attachments, and other baking accessories, helping keep all your stand mixer accessories in one place.

A pull-out drawer
The countertop works both for storing and using the stand mixer when you have enough space.
However, some of us don’t have the luxury of space. Those who have a smaller kitchen with less countertop space will most likely need to house their mixer in a cabinet or shelves. Storing is fine, but lifting your mixer out every time you want to use it can be a chore, especially if you bake on a frequent basis.
Thankfully, there are various pull-out organizers suitable for stand mixers to help with this problem. These drawers are made of solid wood and are designed to be sturdy enough to support your precious mixer.
You attach these wooden shelves to the side of your cabinet and they snugly sit at the bottom. A pulley system lets you extend them back fully to reveal your mixer.
The only downside is that you need to fit it yourself. If this is how you want to store your KitchenAid then make sure you are handy with a screwdriver cabinet shelf that may be too narrow or not tall enough short for your mixer.
A Mixer Lift Cabinet
Imagine bending down every time to pull out your heavy stand mixer from the back of the kitchen cabinet. This can get tiring after a while, especially if you plan to use and store it every day.
This is one of my favorite Kitchenaid storage ideas. This clever design acts as both a storage and a countertop.
This is called a mixer lift. This is a similar design to the pull-out drawer, with the exception that elevates to the same height as your countertop. These mounted stands are strong enough to easily bear the weight of a heavy item like the KitchenAid stand mixer.
You don’t need to add a new cabinet for this mixer-lifting system as it works with any custom-made shelf. Thanks to the dampeners and adjustable tension springs this appliance holding mechanism smoothly slides in and out of the cabinet.
The attached stand acts as your makeshift countertop and holds up to 45lb of weight, making it suitable for even the heaviest KitchenAid! even while the stand mixer operates. When you’ve finished prepping, simply lower down and slide back the mixer into the cabinet using the lift.
The only disadvantage is that it may not work with bowl-lift models that are 7-quart and above as these need a bigger cabinet shelf to begin with. Unless you’re good at installing these things, you’re better off calling in an expert for fitting it.
KitchenAid attachment storage
You’ve managed to find useful and attractive ways to store our mixer.
But what should you do with all the attachments that come with your KitchenAid?
If you have amassed quite the collection of stand mixer accessories, especially those multi-hub attachments, then finding storage space for these is a task in itself.
But there are options – some simple and some that come at a price.
Here’s how to store KitchenAid mixer attachments.
In the mixing bowl
The straightforward storage option is your mixing bowl. This works when you have only got the standard baking attachments for your mixer and some.
Place a towel in the mixing bowl and store the attachments on top of it. You don’t want to end up with scratches on your brand-new bowl or the nylon coating of your attachments chipping off.
This works fine if you only have a handful of attachments, although not ideal if you have a larger collection.
Hangers
Some clever people have creates some special hooks that are specifically designed to store your mixing attachments.
I think these hangers are a brilliant way of storing your mixer attachments. Not only is it super practical, but its minimal design will also look great hanging under a cupboard or from your wall.
This is a brilliant way to keep your baking attachment close at hand and not spend your time among other kitchen tools. It also ensures they aren’t getting damaged kicking about the bottom of a drawer.
Perhaps the biggest problem with this storage solution is that won’t accommodate your multi-purpose attachments that fit onto the front of your mixer.
A pull-out drawer
We have all had that kind of baking day when the beater is not where you last placed it. Cluttered cabinets are the byproduct of being an enthusiastic baker with many tools at your disposal.
As you rummage through the mess, you wish there was a way to arrange these things to save time searching for what you need.
The pull-out drawer is the perfect solution. The metal alloy slide-out basket can be fitted to the bottom of any cabinet. With this, you can store all your bakeware and cookware accessories.
As these portable trays are made of thick material, they are durable and sturdy. The ball slide system ensures that the organizer basket moves smoothly and without annoying creaks.
When pulled out, these easy-to-assemble metal drawers extend halfway outside the cabinet. You don’t have to poke your head in the cabinet to find something.
Pegboards
Pegboards are a storage solution that makes a statement. Sure, they are usually found hanging in a garage or man cave but who says you can’t put one up in your Kitchen?
One of the best advantages to this stylish KitchenAid attachment storage idea is that it’s hugely versatile. You can hang attachments on pegs, in baskets, or even create shelves to house all your
If you plan on storing a vast collection of accessories, just make sure you have securely attached it to the wall!
