There are few things better than the irresistible smell of a freshly baked loaf of bread in the morning. If you, like me, have a big household that all enjoy a slice (or three) of homemade bread as soon as it has finished cooling, it can sometimes feel like a never-ending cycle of trying to keep up the demand for freshly baked bread.
If this sounds familiar, you might want to consider investing in a bread maker that can make a large, or even an extra-large, loaf of bread. Most bread machines tend to make small to medium loaves, clocking in at around the two-pound mark. There are, however, a handful of bread machines currently that can do one better and make a whopping 3lbs+ loaf!
Before you get too excited, there are a few things you should keep in mind if you plan on making a large loaf of bread in a bread machine. For starters, you need to make sure that your bread machine can actually accommodate a large loaf. Some machines have a smaller baking pan, so naturally, they can only make smaller loaves. If you try to put too much dough in a small baking pan, the bread will not bake evenly and could end up overflowing from the pan and creating an anxiety-inducing mess.
Another thing you are going to want to bear in mind is that it will take longer to bake a large loaf of bread than it would bake a small one. Most bread machines have a timer, so you can set it and forget it. Just ensure you check your manual to see how the different baking times differ depending on the size of the loaf you are making and be prepared to wait a bit longer for those larger loaves.
If you are on the hunt for the largest bread maker money can buy, here are 6 of the largest bread machines currently available!

The 6 Largest Bread Makers
The most common loaf sizes are 1lb, 1.5lb, 2lb loaves, although there are a handful of machines that accommodate a 2.5lb and 3lb pan size. Compact bread makers that make 1lb to 2lb loaves are widespread and very easy to get your hands on, anything larger than that can be surprisingly tricky to source.
I have done the leg work and tracked down some of the biggest bread makers currently available to avid home bakers.
HEADS UP: I have even seen bread machines with 3.5lbs capacity, however, I only want to offer you high-quality bread makers that are worthy of your hard-earned cash!

The Zojirushi BB-CEC20 Home Bakery Supreme is a little bit pricey but it is a very advanced machine that has a reputation for making seriously high-quality bread. Impressively, this machine can make a loaf of bread in under two hours as well as a sourdough starter.
Okay, so the Zojirushi doesn’t make as much as a 3lb loaf, but it does go up to a 2lb which is still more than enough to feed a family.
The machine has a viewing window so you can see the baking process, and it also comes with a double mixing paddle to make sure the dough is mixed evenly. It also comes with a 13-hour delay timer so you can prepare the ingredients before you sleep and then hit the delayed timer to start your morning with fresh hot and crusty bread.

Zojirushi BB-PDC20BA Home Bakery Virtuoso Plus
The BB-PDC20BA Home Bakery Virtuoso Plus Breadmaker is another high-quality machine from Zojirushi that is perfect for anyone who loves to make bread in large quantities. Although it isn’t the biggest bread maker out there, this machine has a two-pound capacity, which is still great for making large loaves.
Additionally, the various healthy course settings on this machine include Multigrain, Whole Wheat, Rapid Whole Wheat, Gluten Free, Salt-Free, Sugar-Free and Vegan. The double kneading blades on this bread maker thoroughly knead dough for superior results. Plus, the dual heaters on the bottom and lid of the bread maker promote even baking and browning.
One of the best features of this machine is the rapid courses which allow you to bake a loaf of white or whole wheat bread in just two hours and 25 minutes. The large, easy-to-read LCD display with convenient soft-touch buttons on the lid simplifies the cycle selection.

Breville BBM800XL Custom Loaf Bread Maker
The Breville BBM800XL is one of the most popular bread makers on the market and a personal favorite of mine. It is sleek, modern, and has a ton of great features. The loaf sizes range from 1lb, 1.5lb, 2lb and 2.5 which is ideal for small and large families.
A great feature worth the mention is the automatic fruit and nut dispenser which releases ingredients at the right moment during the knead phase so they are evenly incorporated within the dough.
The Breville is one of the few bread machines out there that has a unique collapsible kneading paddle. The paddle thoroughly mixes ingredients and then collapses before the bake phase to minimize the hole at the base of the baked loaf. This is a brilliant feature if you hate having a gaping hole at the bottom of your bread.
There is a smart LCD screen with a progress indicator displaying 13 automatic settings and three crust colors. For a full review of the Breville, take a look here.
Which bread maker is right for you?
As you have seen, the largest size loaf you can get from a bread maker is a three-pound loaf. However, not many bread makers on the market offer this size. The West Bend, RAKI and Cusimax are some of the few that do. Machines that have up to two or two and a half pounds still yield large enough loaves for most families.
I find that machines with a horizontal bread pan make larger loaves, so if you want a larger loaf of bread, opt for a machine with a vertical bread pan.
