It’s that time of year again when family and friends get together to celebrate the holidays. Plenty of good, drink, and of course, presents And that means it’s time to start thinking about what gifts to buy for your loved ones. If you have a budding baker in your life, it’s important to get them the perfect gift.
Bakers are always looking for new tools and gadgets to help them create their delicious masterpieces. They are a special breed of people who love spending their time in the kitchen, baking up delicious treats for family and friends. Bakers take great pride in their work, and they deserve to be rewarded with the best gifts money can buy!
Getting a gift for a baker can be tricky. We are very picky and very particular people. We know what we want and what we need in the kitchen to make our baking dreams come true.
If you are willing to splurge some cash but are completely clueless about what to get, I have put together a guide on what I think should be on every baker’s wishlist. Whether you are looking for a gift for Thanksgiving, Christmas or even for a wedding or birthday, I have you covered with a list of expensive gifts for bakers.
Expensive Gifts for Bakers
KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer
Talk about expensive gifts for bakers, let’s start off with one of the most expensive gifts you can get; the KitchenAid stand mixer. A stand mixer is a must-have for every baker. If your friend or family member doesn’t have one yet, this is a perfect gift to buy them. Stand mixers are incredibly useful in the kitchen. They whip, knead, stir and beat ingredients with zero effort and will make your baker’s life so much easier.
KitchenAid stand mixers are also some of the most durable appliances out there and will last a lifetime if looked after properly. It’s an investment, really.
I would be absolutely delighted if someone got me a KitchenAid stand mixer as a gift! So, if you are willing to spend the money, I would highly suggest the KitchenAid Artisan model. They come in all sorts of different colors, so you are bound to find one that will make a good impression.
If they are a beginner baker and want to get them something to start off their baking adventures with, take a look at the guide I wrote on the best KitchenAid mixer for beginners.
9 Speed KitchenAid Hand Mixer
Perhaps your daughter is just taking up baking and the KitchenAid stand mixer is a little too expensive for her. You want to surprise her with a mixer on Christmas day but don’t know which one to get. Well, I’m here to tell you that instead of spending all that money on a stand mixer, you could go for a modest hand mixer instead. The KitchenAid hand mixer is a high-end hand mixer but it is nowhere near as expensive as the stand mixers.
Hand mixers are great as they allow the baker to whip up something fast without needing to get the whole stand mixer out and it gives you more control over the ingredients you are mixing, making it the perfect gift for beginners and veterans alike.
There are various KitchenAid hand mixers to choose from, but the nine speed mixer is probably your best bet. It offers beaters, a whisk and dough hooks which allows for more versatile baking.
If your loved one already has a KitchenAid stand mixer, a great gift idea is a KitchenAid attachment. There are over 80 different attachments you can choose from so you are bound to find something that your loved one won’t have in their collection.
If they love pasta but don’t have any of the tools to make their own, you can go for the five piece pasta set. If they enjoy making ice-cream, there is also an ice-cream maker attachment available. Do they love preparing meat dishes? Go for the meat grinder attachment. The list is endless, but if you want to find out more about all the KitchenAid stand mixer attachments available, take a look at the complete list of KitchenAid Stand Mixer attachments.
Cuisinart 14 Cup Food Processor
A food processor is one of those items that you might not necessarily buy yourself, but when it is gifted to you, you realise how much you need it in your life. A good food processor, like the Cuisinart, will become that kitchen tool your loved one didn’t think they needed.
This machine can chop, blitz, dice and blend in a matter of minutes and will become a helping hand in the kitchen. It has a 720 watt motor which is powerful enough to blitz through the most stubborn of nuts and can even knead dough in a matter of seconds. It has a capacity of 14 cups and can handle literally anything you throw at it.
With the Cuisinart, you get a slicing disc, shredding disc and a mixing/chopping blade.
Le Creuset Dutch Oven
Le Creuset is like the KitchenAid of the Dutch Oven world. Expensive, but worth it for its durability and superior quality. All Le Creuset Dutch ovens are made from thick cast iron and retain heat extremely well. Every baker needs one of these in their kitchen arsenal.
Dutch ovens bake bread to perfection with a superior crust and crumb. It is also ideal for cooking soups and stews. They come in multiple different colors and sizes, so you can find the perfect fit for your loved one’s baking needs. If you are looking for something a little cheaper, take a look and some of my recommendations for the best Dutch oven for baking bread.
My favorite Le Creuset Dutch oven is 7qt in the color Flame, but there are many to choose from.
Brod & Taylor Bread Proofer
For all those bread lovers out there, proving bread in a warm environment can be tricky during the cold winter months. A bread proofer offers a warm and cosy environment for the dough to rise, even when it is feeling a little chilly outside.
This proofing box from Brod and Taylor creates the perfect environment for bread dough to thrive in. It generates the correct temperature and controls the humidity for the perfect rise and fermentation of the dough. It also doubles up as a slow cooker.
The great thing about this gift is that it takes up no space at all as it folds completely flat for storage.
Cake Airbrush Kit
This Master Airbrush Cake Decorating Kit is on my Christmas wishlist this year and I can’t wait to (hopefully) get my hands on it! This is probably one of the best gifts for cake bakers you could get. If your loved one has a creative flare and loves to decorate cakes, this airbrush kit will take their decorating to another level of professionalism.
This kit comes with 12 Kosher-certified colors that are super concentrated. The system includes a pressure regulator, 6 foot hose, dual airbrush holder and a start up quide.
This kit is sure to make cakes pop with color!
Mosser Glass Cake Stand
Every baker needs a cake stand to showcase their masterpiece. A cake stand is a great gift for those who bake lots of extravagant cakes but don’t have anywhere to display them. It adds a touch of elegance and professionalism to any baked good presented.
Barski Handmade Glass Cake Dome
You could also go one step further and get a cake stand with a dome. This stunning glass cake dome is the perfect addition to any baker’s display. Similar to the cake stand, but with a glass lid, It adds elegance and sophistication to any homemade dessert. Plus, it’s functional in keeping cakes fresh for longer periods of time.
Mauviel 12 Piece Copper Cookware Set
If you are looking for something big, bold and expensive, I present to you the Mauviel 9 Piece Copper Cookware Set. This is probably one of the most extravagant cookware sets you have ever set your eyes on unless of course, you are after a 12 piece Cookware set, no matter which set you decide to take a liking to from their collection the price will certainly make you do a double take. But, doesn’t the baker in your life deserve the best of the best?
Made with 90% copper and 10% stainless steel, these pots and pans with 2mm thick copper will last for generations to come.
Mauviel Copper Bowl
Is the cookware set a little bit over your budget? If you still want to get your hands on Mauviel products, how better to surprise your loved one with a Mauviel copper mixing bowl?
Copper bowls are known to be the best for whipping egg whites as the egg proteins interact so well with the copper. As the copper ions leach into the egg whites, it helps stabilise the whites, making the fluffiest and stiffest meringues.
It might be a little pricey for a bowl, but they will last forever and your baker friend will thank you every time they whip up a fluffy meringue.
Mason Cash Mixing Bowl
The Mason Cash bowls are my absolute favorite. For a while, I received one as a gift every Christmas and I have acquired quite a collection. Mason Cash bowls are made from earthenware that is high quality and chip-resistant. What I love about these bowls is that they are heavy enough not to move around the counter when you are mixing but are still light enough to handle with ease.
They come in all sorts of different fun colors and patterns.
Neilsen Massey vanilla extract
Every baker knows that high-quality ingredients make all the difference in their baking creations. Nielsen Massey’s vanilla extract is widely considered to be the best on the market, adding rich flavor to any baked good. Yes, it is very expensive, more than what you’d pay for a generic vanilla extract, but is it worth it? Absolutely!
Turntable and Smoothing Tools
Like a cake stand, but it spins! Turntables are very useful for bakers who love to decorate cakes. The table makes it easier to ice the cake as you don’t have to awkwardly move around the cake. Not only is this very inconvenient, but you also don’t get a smooth finish which can make the end result of your cake look messy. With the turntable, the cake moves around for you!
I spent years decorating cakes without a turntable and the day I was finally gifted one, my cake decorating improved significantly. So, if your loved one enjoys decorating but struggles a bit with the icing aspect of it, a turntable and smoothing tools are the perfect gifts for cake bakers.
Asaya Chef Apron
Baking aprons are such a thoughtful gift for a baker. Baking is a messy hobby and how better to keep that mess to a minimum with an apron. My favorite one is the Asaya Chef Apron. It is equipped with multiple pockets and comes with a hand towel and bottle open.
For a beginner baker who is still trying to get their head around measurements, this apron with a cooking conversion chart might be just what they need.
100 Baking Ideas Scratch Off Poster
For the bakers who love a challenge, this scratch off baking poster is a fun way to explore new recipes and techniques. As they scratch off a square from this very quirky poster, they’ll discover bakes and foods they’ve never tried before.
Mary Berry’s Baking Bible
Every baker needs a good cookbook to help inspire new ideas and techniques. Mary Berry’s Baking Bible is a classic, with over 250 recipes for all kinds of baked goods. Plus, the beautiful pictures will make any baker drool over their next baking project.
The only thing to keep in mind is that the book is in UK measurements and might require you to do some conversion. Some of the ingredients used might also be a little hard to find in the US. If you have any questions about any of the measurements or ingredients, just shoot me an email and I can help you convert or find alternative ingredients.
Silpat Silicone Baking Mat
I was gifted a silicone baking mat for my birthday last year and I absolutely love it. It makes kneading dough and making pizza a whole lot easier. The non-stick surface makes it easier to clean all that floury, watery residue that would otherwise be a nightmare to get off your countertop.
Silpat is one the best silicone brands you can get, made with strong silicone that is made to last. What I love about the Silpat baking mats is that they eliminate the need to use parchment paper or baking paper. Not only is this better for the environment, it also saves a lot of money in the long run.
Di-Oro 5-Piece Silicone Spatula Set
Silicone spatulas are great for scraping every last bit of batter or icing out of bowls and mixing containers. They’re also heat resistant, making them perfect for cooking tasks as well. A set with a variety of sizes is always useful for any baker’s kitchen.
Which Gift Would You Pick?
With so many expensive gifts for cake bakers out there you will never be short for choices. If you really want to go over the top and treat the baker in your life, a KitchenAid stand mixer would be the perfect gift. Not only are they iconic and beautiful, they do a great job at mixing and will last a lifetime.
If you want something that can be used for lots of different cooking and baking tasks, the Le Creuset Dutch oven can be used for baking delicious breads, as well as stews or hot pots.
If you want something a little low key, the Asaya apron or Silpat baking mats will certainly impress your loved one.
